[GWINNETT] Lilburn, GA

The Seaboard Airline Railway founded Lilburn in 1890. Its name remembers the general superintendent of the railroad, Lilburn Trigg Myers. With the support of the railroad, the town prospered and later incorporated on July 27, 1910.

In spite of a devastating fire in the 1920s, the Old Town district still maintained its historic character. Main Street offers shopping, dining and other services. A revitalization of the city’s center includes tree-lined sidewalks, roundabouts and a new city hall and library.

The Lilburn Daze Arts and Crafts Festival has been a tradition at the park for more than 40 years. Annual events, such as the July 4th fireworks and Christmas parade, bring the community together. The Diwali celebration at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, the largest Hindu temple in North America, draws thousands from all over Georgia each year.
